Cheaper rates 'welcome news' for those in property in Bulgaria

Bulgaria may be buoyed by the fact that mobile phone call charges have been slashed, according to a sector specialist.
Thomas Newton, a spokesperson for Mobile-Phones.co.uk, says that new European Union (EU) regulations which will reduce the cost of roaming can help people who are staying in accommodation on the continent.
He says that they will be a "welcome change" for those staying at property in Bulgaria and elsewhere in Europe who are feeling the effects of the economic downturn.
"In the past people have often been unaware of how much more of a difference staying in touch with friends at home makes to their wallets," Mr Newton explains.
The fact that some people's roaming rates will be cut by half will prevent them receiving an "astronomical" phone bill, the expert adds.
Under the new rules, sending a text from abroad in the EU will cost less than half the previous average, whereas receiving a text in another country in the area will remain free.
