Dubai property market to go green by 2020

The
Dubai property market could go green by 2020 as increased demand for sustainable development and tighter environmental legislation takes its toll on developers.
According to Guide2Dubai, the introduction of the Middle East's largest solar panel manufacturing plant in the emirate could facilitate improved energy efficiency and more sustainable building by property developers.
And as well as tighter legislation on developments, pressure could be added by increasing demands from customers to take account of environmental concerns.
"The combination of market pressures and a growing impetus from the Dubai authorities to promote environmentally-friendly construction will push more and more developers into creating eco-friendly, green buildings," predicted Guide2Dubai's Mahindra Dey.
Property developers were likely to turn to solar power as their method of choice, the report added, after it was announced earlier this week that Solar Technologies FZE was to establish a new manufacturing facility in Dubai.
The plant will produce solar panels capable of offering 130 megawatts of power a year and is scheduled to begin operations by the end of 2010.
