Expats living abroad 'boost tourism'

Expats living abroad 'boost tourism' People who choose to move abroad may subsequently boost tourism in their chosen destination, according to a specialist.

Nigel Harris, chief executive at Artemis Travel, says Brits living in another country, such as in property in Spain, can persuade other UK travellers to visit the location by promoting the area.

Those who buy property in Spain are often visited by friends and family, which in turn boosts tourism, he states.

For anyone planning to visit expats overseas, Mr Harris advises not waiting too long to book a flight.

"I'd shop around for low-cost flights looking at chartered and scheduled flights as options from regional airports to main hubs," he advises.

Those going to stay in property in Spain should also decide which type of holiday they would like early on, to ensure increased flexibility, he concludes.

A recent report by investment magazine Jet-to-Let revealed that Spain is the sixth most popular destination in the world for people looking to buy an overseas home.
