Late travel to property in Spain 'on the increase'

Late travel to property in Spain 'on the increase' People are increasingly booking late deals to travel to stay in property in Spain, an industry specialist asserts.

Darren McCormick, head of aviation at Travel Counsellors, says those venturing overseas are "definitely becoming more confident" when going abroad, which has led to a rise in sales in general.

"We are also seeing a rise in late bookings as customers tend to be holding onto their money for longer and booking nearer [the] time of departure," he explains.

Mr McCormick adds that there are currently more last-minute deals available than ever before, as people seek the solace of a staying in property in Spain and enjoying the summer climate.

Those who book with an agent that can shop around on their behalf and find the best bargains will find that they can still get good value for money, he concludes.

According to online firm youtravel.com, the Costa Del Sol saw an upturn in bookings late year, with 14 per cent more travellers visiting the area compared with 2007.
