'More property for your money' in Spain

'More property for your money' in Spain Greater space, increased privacy and more property for your money could tempt British expats into buying real estate in Spain.

In a bid to highlight the realities behind relocating abroad, a report by the Sun printed an interview with one British woman who said she had found her "perfect" location.

Janette Murphy moved from the south coast of England to Spain's Costa Blanca and now owns a detached house complete with swimming pool and 15,000 square metres of land.

This made a welcome change, she said, from the "tiny forecourts and very ordinary gardens" of her previous properties in the UK.

While the language barrier initially proved a problem, she claimed everything else about the move had been "extraordinarily easy".

Financially she was "much better off" overseas, she revealed, while "beautiful beaches" and "inland countryside" were also a particular attraction.

Those looking to buy property in Spain were recently advised that they could choose from a glut of new homes after reports of a 20 per cent increase in the number of unsold properties in the first six months of this year, according to Spanish Property Insight.
