Prices 'holding steady' in Spain
Property prices in Spain and retail amenities are holding steady, according to a sector specialist.
Shaun Hinds, director of commercial at the Co-operative Travel, says research has shown that prices in
Spain are not fluctuating as much as in other locations.
Popular destinations such as
Turkey and
Egypt are experiencing a rise in costs, though "good value can be found" in Spain, he states.
Mr Hinds adds that people holidaying at hotel property in Spain are choosing all-inclusive breaks which mean exchange rates are less of an issue.
Though many people may expect Spain to be a more expensive destination than non-eurozone countries due to the sterling's ratio to the euro, bargains can still be found in the country, the expert concludes.
According to a recent report by estate agent trivago, the average price of a hotel room in
Madrid has fallen from £101 in February to £95 in March, with room rates in
Barcelona also decreasing ten per cent in the same period.
