Property in Dubai to stage fundraiser

A landmark property in Dubai is set to stage a fundraising event to benefit the community.

The Big Apple at Jumeirah Emirates Towers will host the sixth annual Vertical Marathon on May 29th to raise money for the medical and humanitarian aid organisation Médecins Sans Frontières.

Yannis Anagnostakis, general manager of the 52-storey property in Dubai, says ensuring the health and wellbeing of residents is paramount.

He explains: "The Vertical Marathon provides the perfect opportunity for individuals to take on a personal initiative that will benefit their personal health and support that of the worldwide community in what is a fun and inspiring event."

The event will involve runners racing up the building's 1,334 stairs until they reach the summit, 350m from the ground.

Last year over 100 runners took part in the event, which has raised a total of AED 531,408 (£360,000) since its conception, with 30-year-old resident Petra Jerejian winning the race for the second year in succession.
