Property in Spain 'a top destination'

People will continue to travel to property in Spain this spring, according to a sector expert.

Mike Whiting, managing editor at Holiday Extras, says the country consistently retains its popularity with people going overseas.

"Spain is the top destination. These are people who have booked in the last month, so they are booking to go away in the next couple of months in the spring period," he comments.

Mr Whiting adds that Malaga in particular is proving popular with people travelling to property in Spain.

The expert states that the area is a "big player" in the market, as its city centre appeals to overseas visitors.

Mainland Europe is still the preferred destination for the majority of people looking for a place in the sun, Mr Whiting concludes.

According to a recent survey by the company, 48 per cent of people would choose to travel "anywhere with warm weather" during the spring, with short-haul journeys proving more popular than long-haul destinations.
