Students buck the trend in Scotland
Landlords are doing well in Scotland with high demand from students wanting to buy or let property close to universty campuses.
Like the rest of the UK, the rental market in Scotland has experienced a drop in letting values since the beginning of the year with prices being slashed in order to assure a speedy let but high demand for student accommodation is proving the exception to the rule.
Students were often typecast as difficult tenants with a reputation for being noisy and always late with the rent. Not these days it seems, with many parents footing the bill for their offspring's university accommodation standards have improved.
Areas close to the city centres pubs, clubs and campuses have been snapped up by eager scholars before the end of the summer term. In Edinburgh where some students were enquiring back in January for the new academic year double rooms are being let for over £400 in a house share making it a very lucrative business for landlords with three or four bedroom properties.
