Overview: Solanas is a charming and rusticly-typical Sardinian village just off the coast road from Cagliari and Villasimius. The village, though small, boasts 3 restaurants, 2 pizzerias, 2 hotels, 3 markets, newspaper kiosk, service-station, pharmacy, beach cafe and rentals. It offers one sandy beach surrounded by a rocky coast. A very pleasant residential area popular with families and groups alike.


Sights to visit:

Grotta Nuova
Near Cala Gonone on the east coast Grotto Nuova is a good example of the many grottos throughout Sardinia (Sardegna).

The ruins at Nora
Built on a peninsular, an hour's drive west of Cagliari, the Roman & Phoenician ruins at Nora are a well preserved insight into Sardinia's history.

Villasimius
Bustling, well equipped and popular amongst tourists, the small town of Villasimius is well worth a day trip.

Solanas is situated on the south-east coast of the italian island of Sardinia (Sardegna), approximnately 25km east of the capital Cagliari, and 9km west of the popular village of Villasimius.

By air - Cagliari (Elmas) airport, 6 miles outside the Cagliari, is a 50 minute drive from Solanas
By road
- 25km from Cagliari and 9km from Villasimius via good coastal roads
By bus - a twice-a-day bus service runs from Cagliari to Villasimius, stopping at Solanas
