About Brisbane, Queensland

Brisbane has so many things to offer it is difficult to know where to start. The features listed below are in no particular order.

South Bank: A recently developed area along, unsurprisingly, the south bank of the Brisbane River and easily reached by bridge or water transport (CityCat or Ferry) from north of the river. It is a bustling river-fronted area with cafes, bars and restaurants lining the water-side walkways. In addition a man-made beach, complete with sand and waves, has been created to provide an area of fun and relaxation for locals and visitors alike. More water-based areas are under construction (2006/2007) as the existing areas have proved enormously popular. This would be a nice feature in any city but it is only Brisbane's gorgeous summer weather which makes this outdoor attraction practical here.

Moreton Island: An hour's catamaran trip from the Tangalooma Ferry Terminal (near to Brisbane Airport) Moreton Island is a little bit of paradise away from the bustle of the city. With more than a dozen shipwrecks sited deliberately close to the shore Moreton Islands attracts many snorkelers and scuba divers. There is an abundance of marine life too see although care should be taken if swimming at high tide as the currents are very strong.

In addition to diving the wrecks the visitor to Moreton Island can: parasail, sail, kayak, banana boat ride, jet ski, hire 4 x 4 vehicles, sand toboggan the dunes, or just relax on the mile upon mile of soft sandy beaches.
