Malia today is a busy international seaside resort directly on the route of the main National road and is packed with restaurants, bars, clubs, shops, hotels and apartments. There are several lovely beaches all within walking distance of the resort. In addition to the modern town and only a few minutes away, Old Malia is quietly tucked away and still retains the charm and charcter of a traditional Cretan Village. Several large archaeological sites exist close by. The main airport at Heraklion is within a 20 minute drive.
