Kefalas village is 282m above sea level and is located about 5 minutes by car from Vamos. Kefalas is a picturesque village right on the northeast edge of the Drapanos peninsula in the area of Apokoronas. Built facing the sea with architecture dominated by the Turks, Kefalas is well preserved. The old village has tavernas where a traditional meal can be enjoyed and eight churches. The views from Kefalas to the bay of Georgioupolis and the White Mountains are magnificent and on a clear day Rethymnon can be seen. Kefalas is untouched by tourism and the old traditional way of life still remains.
