It was first mentioned in 1392. After Buseks death, Buseks son, Busek II, probably came into possession of the object. Opálka traces its history back to between 1403 and 1415. Little is known about the history of the inhabitants in the first half of the 15th century. Since about 1450, Opálka belonged to the knights of Drazovice, which held the Feste until 1480. Between 1476 and 1480, Bedrich Skorne of Malonice somehow gained ownership of the object. He and his son were in control of Opálka until1540. From 1538 to 1540, it was attained by Elisabeth von Pacov and her husband, Jan Tunkl of Brnicko. After Elisabeth von Pacov'z death in 1549, ownership completely transferred to her husband. After 1557, the property was inherited by Margareta von Sternberk whose son and later her grandson lived there, probably until the late 1580s. These owners pledged Opálka would never be released from their possession. The dominion later fell to Johann the Elder of Lobkowitz. After his death in 1590, Opálka was taken over by the three brothers, Ladislav the Elder, Georg and Bohuslav Havel. Between 1595 and 1597, Opálka belonged to Elisabeth von Lobkowitz and Wolf Novohradsk ý until 1609. After their deaths in 1614, their son sold to Judith von Kolowrat, who had the Feste until 1630. After his death in 1653, the property was divided amongst his wife, Johanna (a born Gonzaga) and his brothers, Georg, Bernhard Ignaz and Maximilian Valentin. Soon afterward, in 1656, the object was sold into the hands of Maximilian von Waldstein. Soon afterward, the Feste Opálka was resold to Isabella Emilie von Schwihau who possessed it for only a few years and sold in 1669 to Ignaz Karl von Sternberk. Finally, in 1673, the Feste Pavel Graf bought it from Morzin. After this time, Opálka was not just a manor house, but was inhabited mostly by Castellians. The house was then sold by Morzin's son, Ferdinand Matthias von Morzin, in 1701 to Alois Bonaventura von Altersheim. The owners changed in rapid succession afterwards. In 1760, Karl Josef Graf of Palm-Gundelfingen acquired the house and united the property with that of Bystrice nad Ú hlavou. It stayed in this form until 1923. After 1760, ownership went to the Count von Trauttmansdorff, then to Václav Alexander Hildtprandt, knight of Ottenhausen, and afterwards to Karl Richard Josef, knight of Schmiedeln. Later it went to Karl Joachim Graf of Bredow, and since the middle of the 19th century, it was taken over by the monarch of Hohenzollern Sigmaringen Opálka. In the course of the land reform in the 1st Czechoslovak republic between 1923 and 1924, the owners at that time (Wilhelm von Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen) lost the property. The family, Strouhalová, gained management of the property. They then lost their rights to the property because of nationalization after 1945 and the domestic offices of an agricultural cooperative gained control. The buildings remained partly unused and went visibly to ruin. In 1992, the family Strouhalová got the properties back by restitution. In 2001, the present owner acquired the property with the pertinent courtyard. Short overview of the construction history: The property currently consists of three building wings in the southern, western and northern areas. The wings run almost parallel to eachother. The buildings are grouped around a central living tower to which the northern and western wings are directly connected. The southern wing is separated from the tower by a courtyard. The ground floor is raised and is opposite the 1st upper floor of the tower. The tower opens outwardly into a broad stairway. The main entrance to the property is in the southern wing. Through an open archway in the facade, there is a gently rising stair directly under a dormer window which leads to the two-winged main hall. The Gothic house was built on the multi-story prismatic tower that was made in the late Gothic period and is approx. 12 m x 10 m. It's current exterior appearance still shows its essential structural character from the 14th century, although it has been altered. A hall with a high vault ceiling was installed as the ground floor and on to of it, a raised ground floor that was probably built in the 16th century. The subdivision of the floors was formed by wooden ceilings. This could be cleared away and the upper floors could be reconstructed with a hip roof. The brick-work of the tower is from quarrystones. There are some loopholes and original apertures, as well as the Gothic pointed arches in the entrance to the tower. In the east there is a stairway from the baroque time. The southern, northern and western parts of the building surrounding the tower appear to be from the Renaissance and the Baroque times, but they also appear to be constructed on top of the existing late-gothic material.
