Sirok is 20 kms from the baroque city of Eger at the base of the Bükk-and Mátra mountains. It is a small town with 250 inhabitants and a picturesque location. Sights in Sirok and surroundings: - An impressive castle ruin on the caslte hill that is 294 m high. It is from the 13th century. The peat moss moorland appeared approx. 10000 years ago and today is a protected area. In the town is the estate of the sculptor Pál Borics. A part of his works is found in the local library. For vacationers who want to stay in the Mátra or in the Bükk mountains fro a longer time, Sirok is an excellent place to stay. In just a day the following destinations are attainable: the Salvus-medicinal bath in Bükkszek (7 kms), the medicinal springs in Egerszalók (30 kms), the health resort Parád (15 kms and the highest elevation of the Mátra mountains), Galya-tet õ (965 m) and the Kekes-tet õ (1015 m). A little farther away is the sulphur bath in Mezõ kövesd, the cave bath in Miskolc-Tapolca, the popular town of Lillafüred, the famous horse-riding destination of Szilvásvárad, the limestone caves in Aggtelek, and the historic village Hollókõ. This family campsite is located on the slope of castle hill in the most beautiful area of the town. The campsite has been lovingly run for the last 16 years. The location is flat with many beautiful trees and a beautiful lawn. In addition to camping, the site can accomodate up to 150 people in 40 small wooden houses. The campsite is fenced in. There is a kitchen for 100 people, a buffet and wine restaurant. The castle ruins are at the property border.
