Kritsa is a fine example of a typical traditional Cretan village and is the largest village on Crete. As such it is a popular destination for visitors. Situated inland approx 11kms from the cosmopolitan town of Agios Nikolaos, Kritsa enjoys an elevated position and gorgeous views across to the mountains, valley and in some cases to the sea in the distance. There are a multitude of colourful shops selling traditional handicrafts and souvenirs, as well as a great selection of kafeneons, tavernas, bars and local shops. There is also a bank, doctor's surgery and schools and the village is well served by public transport, with a regular bus service to and from Agios Nikolaos. The nearest beach is within 10kms.
