Villa Cicconi is located between the historic Salaria road and the ancient hamlet of Colli Del Tronto. It is located at an altitude that allows beautiful views of the valley in front of the property. The area is called Piceno, which borders with the National Park of Monti Sibillini, roughly 9km from Ascoli Piceno and 15 minutes drive from the Adriatic coast.

Ferdiando Cicconi (1831-1886), a painter from the romanticism era, cured every detail of the house in Colli del Tronto. Small and built on two floors, the house is surrounded by trees and flowers. The house was donated to the wife of Cicconi and became his inspirational haven. The painter was born in Colli del Tronto in 1831. He studied art in Rome for a long period in the San Luca academy and was taught by master Tommaso Minardi. A versatile artist, Cicconi?s works include the décor of the vault in the great hall of the Ventidio Bassi theatre and the San Elpidio a mare theatre. Most of his paintings are historical works such as the Patriotic Demonstration in Piazza del Popolo and the Piemontesi Entrance through Porta Maggiore. These works are preserved in the civic art gallery along with various other works currently on exhibition in the commune of Colli del Tronto. The outside walls are a shade of yellow, very picturesque and with an oriental feel to them. The walls are further decorated with geometrical outlines in Pompeian red. The frescoes are on three different prospects and give a sense of liberty, accentuated by the vivid red of the shutters and the balcony, which outlooks the beautiful Marchegiana countryside along with the Adriatic sea and the mountains of Fiori and Campli. The place is peaceful and productive and Cicconi paid attention to every detail of the property. While designing the property, he must have been inspired by a Casino Massimi of the province along with a precise iconographic plan. The mix of poetic and artistic forms can be found in the decoration of the property. The décor gives the property a jovial feel but has been completely decorated externally only. The external décor works lasted until the last days of Cicconi?s life. The front of the house is adorned with Leonardo Da Vinci?s bust on the highest balcony. Michelangelo and Raffaello?s busts are positioned on the lower floor balcony respectively on the left and right side. The ground floor is characterized by geometrical shapes and borders, mostly rectangles but with two great vases bearing the eternal flame inscribed in circles and semi-circles.

Cicconi himself undertook the decoration work of this splendid country house, and a sketch of the original completed work still remains. The property is grand despite of its modest size and the architecture reminisces an antique feel due to the Pompeian red used to decorate the walls.

The house is built on three floors.

The ground floor consists of a large dining room, bathroom and kitchen with access to the underground cellar. The first floor consists of a living room, two bedrooms and bathroom with tub and shower, along with a terrace leading into the garden. The second floor consists of two bedrooms and a study, along with a vast under roof space.

The internal part of the house was to be decorated, but the death of the painter in 1886 meant it would never be undertaken.

There are, however, plans and sketches of a hallway decorated with allegoric sculptures and paintings conserved in the family archive. A sketch of the external décor shows how Cicconi had in historical buildings in mind, such as the Doria Pamphili in Rome, now home to the Presidente del Consiglio, in which he decorated various rooms.

The house has always been passed down to Cicconi family members.

The property is complete with a vast garden consisting of secular trees.
