This house has a fabulous panoramic view, is situated on the edge of a small peaceful hamlet at the first mountain pass from the sea. It is surrounded by views, at the back there is the impressive ‘Monte Ruiu’ or Red Mountain fantastic as the sun sets on it, at the front spectacular views towards the sea. There is a wonderful thermal section of the River Goghinas, 5 mins. down the mountain, where one can fish or take the waters, use the special mud, or just sit on the beach and soak up the wonderful atmosphere. The local villages of Viddalba and Santa Maria Goghinas which have all amenities, are just 5 minutes away and the seaside town of Valledoria less than 15 mins. There are many good local restaurants and pizzerias, amongst the delights of the area are good local wine, wonderful cheeses and various salami, as well as fruit and vegetables in season, and wild mushrooms, porcini, asparagus, spinach and various herbs to collect, in the countryside. Restaurants with traditional local dishes, such as the delicious Sardinian suckling pig, wild boar and hare, home made pastas and wonderful handmade `dolci', there are many local festivals, to which all are invited, the Sardinians are known for their warm hospitality.
The house which has it’s own piece of land, surrounded by an original dry stone wall, consists of a dining room, a large double bedroom, a second lounge, which could be another large double bedroom, another twin or double bedroom, a further ‘spare room’ or possible bedroom (twin or double), or even a second bathroom. There is a large bathroom, a small laundry area, and a kitchen with a door leading to the courtyard garden at the back, which overlooks the mountain. At the front is a raised terrazzo, with views to sea, and a small outhouse/shed, built in stone. There is a cantina for wine making, which could be turned into yet another room, and finally a garage at the side of the house.
Whilst the house is in a liveable condition, especially for holiday periods, there is a great scope for improvement and development, which could be done over a period of time.
‘Stazza Giuncana’, is within easy driving distance of the many and varied bays and white sand beaches of the crystal clear seas of both `Costa Paradiso' and `Costa Smeralda', nearest beach is less than 15 mins. The house is also well situated (about 60 mins.) for either Alghero airport where www.ryanair.com flies in from Stanstead (2 hour flight) and various other parts of the U.K., or Olbia airport (about 70 mins.) where www.easyjet.com flies in from Gatwick (again 2 hours) and various other parts of the U.K., both companies are adding new flights all the time.(see below). Porto Torres is about 40 mins. where one can take various ferries to France or the Italian mainland.
The island in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea, is about the size of Wales, with a population of around 1.5 million, it is a natural paradise, and above all in Sardinia you will find tranquillity. With its miles of unspoilt coastline and countryside, it remains one of the few beautiful "undiscovered" holiday islands left in Europe and only 2 hours from the U.K.
Sardinia is now well served by airlines and one can easily take a ferry to Corsica, the Italian mainland and Africa, so is a good base for travelling.
