Bedrooms: 3
This 3 bedroom Priest's house is one of the unique renovated houses of eastern Crete, restored in the Cretan traditional way, with many features including arches and the original fire place. The high stone wall of the property's entrance shows the trademark old Turkish architecture. The house was originally built 200 years ago and belonged to the Maronia village priest, and was a focal point for the local community.
The current owners (Pauline and Chrissie) bought the house 5 years ago and have respected all the aspects of its original character. Located at the edge of Maronia village, with parking near by in the village square. Close to the river valley, with green surroundings all year round. Entering the front wooden gate is a secluded courtyard with the original pavement. From here stairs lead up onto the roof terrace with lovely views to the valley, while around the courtyard are the main entrances to the downstairs rooms.
The first room is a large lounge area with open fire place, a huge stone arch and features.
Stone stairs lead off into the master bedroom with wooden floor, and a door leading out onto a balcony with uninterrupted views to the river valley.
More stone stairs lead off into the kitchen and bathroom, and a further bedroom.
The kitchen, fitted with a skylight, has original wooden cupboards, fridge and cooker.
The bedroom, also with a skylight, has 2 single beds and an ensuite shower/toilet.
A separate entrance from courtyard leads to the third bedroom with ensuite shower/toilet.
Both bathrooms are artistically-styled with swimming pool type tiles on the walls. Expensively furnished with unique materials. A must see. Area: Lassithi
