Bulgaria, near Biala
The property is situated in the central part of a peaceful village just about 2 miles from Yantra river and only 10 miles before it flows into the Danube river. The village has a nice infrastructure – shops, medical centre, bar, restaurant, bus stop… There are regular transport connections towards Ruse, Byala and Sofia on every hour. The area around the village is hilly – with many forests, wide plains and a wonderful and picturesque river curving through the valley. It is extremely pleasant for recreation, holidays, fishing, hunting or horse riding.
The property spreads over 2030 sq. m. of land and approx. 80 sq. m. of living area. The house offers 3 bedrooms and a corridor on the upper level. Attached to the house are the summer kitchen and the cellar. The house is in structurally good condition, but it will need some renovations to be done, such as adding an internal bathroom and a toilet, re-plastering the walls; pouring concrete on the floors and some re-decoration.
There are few more properties bought by English people in the village and they all agree that the village is very peaceful and local people - friendly and helpful. The village is only half an hour drive to Veliko Tarnovo; the nearest food shop is in walking distance and the nearest big shopping centre is in Svishtov - about 10 minutes drive.
The Municipality
Tsenovo municipality is located in the eastern part of North-Central Bulgaria in Ruse District. The Municipality consists of 9 villages. It is situated along the lower stream of the Yantra River in the Hilly Danube Plain. The Municipality Centre ( village of Tsenovo) is located at the largest curves of Yantra River, 25 km away from the Danube River. Svishtov - Tsenovo - Byala and Svishtov - Tsenovo - Ruse roads pass through Tsenovo. Through Byala railway station, which is 9 km. away, the village is connected to Ruse - Gorna Oriahovitsa railroad.
The District
Ruse Region includes a part of the hilly Danube Plain, the Danube riverside plain of Pobrezhie and part of Ludogorie lowlands. It is bounded by the regions of Silistra, Razgrad, Targovishte and Veliko Tarnovo, and borders Romania to the north with the Danube River as a boundary. Some of the big rivers are the Yantra and the Rusenski Lom.
The region is important for the national transport system. The Danube River is linked through the European waterway system with the Mein and the Rhine rivers and connects the North Sea with the Black Sea. The first railroad line in Bulgaria – Ruse–Varna, built in 1866, crosses the region. Important roads and railways connect the region with the rest of the country and the only bridge over the Danube on Bulgarian territory connects the country with Romania. The middle point of the bridge marks the boundary between the two countries.
Protected areas on the territory of the region include the Rusenski Lom Nature Park, which comprises the picturesque canyon of the river valley, rock formations near the villages of Pisanets and Mechka, and the Orlova Chuka Cave.
Vestiges of prehistoric life in the region have been found in the Orlova Chuka Cave and in the mound of Ruse. Thracians, living in the area around the 4th c. BC, have left about 250 mounds. The Thracian silver treasure, discovered near the village of Borovo, known as the Ruse Treasure, is notable for the fine skilful decoration of animals’ figures and mythological scenes. The castles built during the Roman times to defend the Danube frontier include Sexaginta Prista (near Ruse), Jatrus (near the village of Krivina), Tigra (near the village of Marten), etc. The rock churches of Ivanovo are notable cultural landmarks of the region and they are included in the UNESCO List of World Cultural Heritage. The medieval fortress of Cherven can be also visited. In the 19th century Ruse is the gate for the European cultural influence on Bulgarian lands. The preserved patterns of urban architecture are among the most attractive and stylish throughout the country.
