The castle is on the rural south side of Malta, in what was traditionally a farming village. It is half a mile from the lively market town of Zurrieq and easily accessible from the airport. Built for the Knights of Malta, the castle has been a Crusaders' fortress and a brothel during its long and diverse history. Since 1969, it has been an idyllic family retreat, providing refuge from our long English winters. This tower is an imposing honey colored limestone castle built in 1579, commanding panoramic views of the island and the Mediterranean Sea. Its dramatic medieval architecture and secluded Romanesque swimming pool set in five acres of secluded grounds make it a truly memorable place to stay.

land The five acre walled garden has arbors, pergolas and an impressive avenue of cypresses reflecting the early mysticism that pervades Malta. A swimming pool can be enjoyed for much of the year. Three anterooms branch off the hall including a television and video room with English speaking cable installed. There is a large butler's pantry and a washroom with washing machine and drying racks: these rooms lead into the kitchen. As well as having all the usual facilities including a dishwasher, this large single storey offshoot has an entire wall of glass sliding doors opening onto a terrace where most meals are eaten 'al fresco' round the large wooden table.
