On offer is this fabulous luxury villa overlooking the historic and famous San Gimignano, (the village of towers) which is only a kilometre away.

Located in the province of Siena and a very short distance away from this beautiful city, the villa is reached down a quiet and very exclusive country road. Totally enclosed within red brick walls and set in mature and landscaped gardens, the villa also comes with it?s own olive groves and small Chianti vineyard and is set in beautiful grounds of 10,000 sq. mtrs (around 2 and a half acres approximately).

Originally built in the early 1800?s for one of the local gentry, the villa was the family home for this family until, in the early 1930?s, the location and siting of the villa attracted the attention of the then Fascist Italian government, who took the villa over. They then extensively renovated and expanded the villa, using the finest of Italian craftsmen and the best materials available. Once completed, it was then staffed and finally turned over for use as a prestigious holiday villa for favoured government and party officials (it is rumoured that Il Duce, Benito Mussolini, stayed there, but this has never been officially confirmed.

Entry to the villa is through private gates and up a long sweeping driveway. From a distance the villa looks quite small and discrete; however, as soon as one gets close, the true impact of this magnificent and exceptional building becomes apparent. Built in the traditional red-brick, now mellowed with age, but still retaining their deep blood-red colour so typical of Tuscany bricks, and in absolutely superb condition, this is an exceptional property by any standard. The front of the villa, via a short flight of steps, leads into an outstanding main lobby room, from which all of the other rooms in the villa can be reached. A large square room, with a very tall ceiling, the scale and character of just this single room quickly underlines the special qualities and unique features that are found throughout the villa (amongst many such wonderful features is a tight stone circular staircase, reminiscent of those found in medieval castles, that connects the main floor with the lower servants area. One can only imagine and wonder at the difficulties experienced and overcome by servants trying to negotiate these stairs whilst carrying heavy food-filled trays). These rooms are too numerous to detail (there are a total of 21 rooms in the villa), however, some are of extra special character, of particular fineness that it is right to single them out. Of the many such rooms, one can point to the large dining room. Elaborately laid out and furnished, this room easily seats 50 people in comfort. Another room of note is a fascinating and possibly unique room on the lower floor. A truly breath-taking room, it was primarily conceived and built as a ?taverna? (a family or entertainments room). Approximately 60ft x 22ft, the whole room is loosely divided into three interconnecting parts or sections, all of which have magnificent and faultlessly crafted vaulted red-brick ceilings, all in perfect condition. Lastly, although not strictly an interior room, there is the elegant balcony/terrace. On the first floor and reached via huge glassed doors from the dining room, this terrace reflects the height of fashionable living. Surrounded by short stone balustrades, topped with flat marble, overlooking the grounds and with a long curved and sweeping brick staircase, taking you down to the ground level, one can easily imagine all the dignitaries, after a fine meal, retiring to the terrace to enjoy the warmly scented evening air, looking out over the neatly laid out Olive groves, whilst sipping the finest of Italian Chianti.

The gardens, though formally laid out, still retain character and rustic charm. Neat paths take you from one section to another, one garden area to another.
