Did you know that Rolls Royce engines not only power The Rolls Royce and Bentley cars but also
boats, planes, tanks and many of the world wide jet planes in the air today.
Just some of the famous names are the Supermarine S6B race plane winner of the Schieder
Trophy world air speed cup,Malcomn Cambells Bluebird record breaking speedboat,
The Thunderbolt world land speed record breaking car,as well as the Cromwell battle tank
and of course the immortal Spitfire of World War 2.
Did you know the mascot on the Rolls Royce was modelled off an original mascot made for
Lord John Scott Montagu of Beaulieu for his personal Rolls Royce. It was modelled on his secretary
Eleanor Thornton who was believed to be his mistress and it was called the Whisperer. This led to
the remodelling of the same lady into the present day mascot known as The Spirit of Ecstasy
sometimes refered to in the USA as The Flying Lady and to some as just Emmy!
This mascot, the grill and the quality of the engineering and design of the Rolls Royce
contributes in making it   "The Best Car In The world"!             Terry Moxley
