Mortgages in Iceland are offered in Iceland Krona (ISK) and other major currencies.
Lending is based on affordability and this does not include any rental income from the property to be purchased. The bank requires information from you which is aimed at defining your actual income and therefore your ability to make the mortgage repayments.
- Types of mortgage: Repayment only
- Minimum loan amount: ISK 2,000,000
- Maximum: none, but must not exceed 80% of the valuation or purchase price (whichever is the lower)
- All existing liabilities, including any mortgage/rent payments, loans, maintenance (i.e. divorce) payment will be taken into consideration when making the financial assessment.
