On the main floor, serviced by a vestibule and a long corridor, are the large lounge, the comfortable wood panelled library and the open plan dining room for comfortable seating of 12. An attractive brick fireplace and the neat bamboo cane ceiling give this main reception area a distinctly Algarvean feeling.

The kitchen design is that of a 19th century country kitchen. Antique hand-painted tiles decorate the wall space that is not filled by wooden cupboards and shelves and the requisite modern appliances and equipment.

From the same service entrance you walk into the utilities area where there is a 600 litre central water heater with a capacity sufficient for all 7 bathrooms at the same time. There is also a walk-in larder.

On the opposite side of the house, the master bedroom suite with dressing room and large bathroom is the only bedroom suite on this level of the house. Stone stairs lead up to the other 4 bedroom suites, all with en suite bathrooms and great views, and down into the basement where there is a huge games room. One section of this basement is prepared for sauna and shower facilities, another is taken up by a walk-in safe. There is also a self-contained staff apartment with ample built-in wardrobe space.

All exterior doors are aluminium framed, double glazed and have blue wooden shutters.

The house is built on a gentle slope and excellent use was made of the fall of the land by having elevated garden terraces along the southern front. The roof overhang in the centre gives shade for very civilised out-door congregating. There are BBQ facilities and low balustrades protect the attractively designed and divided staircases down to the pool terrace.

There are splendid views from here of the ocean and rolling fields with pine and citrus trees.

In the large grounds only indigenous trees, shrubs and plants were cultivated. The expertly engineered natural pond at the far side of the pool terrace is home to the Japanese Koi carp.
