A rare character building dated to 1800, on the road to Sitia harbour. One of the few remaining town houses that serve as a reminder of the wealthy elite of the 19th century. The adjacent house has similar architecture and has been renovated by the Orthodox Church as a priest’s residence. Located in Sitia town in East Crete this 165m2 renovated corner house is elevated from street level, with steps leading up to the entrance hall and a long corridor, off which are a total of 6 rooms, plus a storage room underneath the entrance steps. The property has 5 metre high ceilings, large rooms with large windows, original tiles. Two of the rooms have beautiful roof paintings, which are damaged in places but could be restored to wonderful effect. The kitchen is large enough to incorporate a large dining area. Necessary work includes painting the doors and windows, conservation of the paintings, and new kitchen furniture.
