Bagnone is located along the Bagnone stream, on the left part of the Magra river. The territory has an essentially mountainous morphology, dominated by the Appennine circle. The village stands out on one rock, dipped in a forest of pines and oaks. In the Middle Ages and more recent ages also, Bagnone has had a great importance thanks to the strategic position, along important ways of communication.

Bagnone has many places of artisitic interest like the castle and its church, the Church of San Rocco and the church of Santa Maria. Nearby the beautiful medieval village of Castiglion of the Terziere with the castle, the castle of Treschietto, the ruins of Iera, and Corlaga and Corvarola. Visit also the parish of Saints Ippolito and Cassiano. Lunigiana is the region to the extreme north of the Tuscany, situated between Liguria and Emilia Romagna along the course of the river Magra and its affluents, but historically its borders are much wider.

Characterized from sweet hills, immense green meadows and high mountains, it is encircled from the Appennines and the Alps Apuane. Lunigiana is a small homogenous region that offers a mild climate and a sweet atmosphere, perfect for resting and holidays. The millenial story of its history are visible, from the mysterious “statue stele” to the roman ruins, from old churches and medieval castles to the baroque palaces.

Nature and clean air are some of the characteristics of Lunigiana you might immediately notice. Situated between the Magra river, where bathing is permitted, between the Apuan Alps and green hills, it offers fun and relaxation. Opportunities for trekking along the numerous paths, mountain biking, riding or simply take it easy. In the summer the mild climate allows you to enjoy the countryside, the winter remains cold but not frigid, ideal for sitting in front of a fireplace.

You need to taste one of its numerous gastronomic specialities. The “torta d’erbi”, the “testaroli”, the “panigacci”. All with good wine of the area.

Because of the location, every day is perfect to visit different places and their festivals, particularly in the summer season. Traditions are important in Lunigiana even today, but perhaps that is why it is popular with tourists and for relocating. Lunigiana is a world of traditions and surprise, of calm and freedom, of festivals and tastes.
