Why invest in Zlin?
We are excited to be able to offer an opportunity for investment in one of the most promising regions in the Czech Republic – Zlin
Zlin was one of the first regions to prosper internationally after the Velvet Revolution (the fall of communism in 1989) due in main to its geographical location and it’s highly educated workforce.
Zlín region is distinguished by its traditionally strong industrial base. Key fields of industry in the region include mechanical engineering, steel production, chemicals, plastics, and rubber. Wood-processing, leather production, electrical engineering and the food industry are also of great importance.
It is also the birth place of Thomas Bata (www.bata.cz) and the manufacturing base for Central Europe’s largest producer of quality shoes.
Other notable and recognisable names originating from Zlin include English playwrite Tom Stoppard, born Tomas Straussler in 1937. The Strausslers left for Singapore in 1939. And also Ivana Trump - Donald Trump's ex wife - enough said !
A number of educational institutions, secondary and higher professional schools operate in the region, most notably Tomáš BaÅ¥a University in Zlín, which offers specialised education, and Private University education is provided by the European Polytechnic Institute.
The combination of jobs and education contrive to give Zlin an unemployment rate comfortably below the national average and remarkably an average wage that is only marginally lower than that of Prague.
By 2010 the new highway and transport links will be complete improving access to Prague, Brno and Ostrava with the latter two being no more than 30 miles in either direction. These are two of the Czech Republic’s real estate rising stars over the last two or 3 years. And Zlin is set to follow suit.
