Casa dell’Aquila is a restored 270 sq m town-house located in an ancient hamlet close to Amelia, southern Umbria. The hamlet was an important castle in the past and the historical origins go back to the 11th century. The church, square and small streets have conserved the authentic character. There is a supermarket, a post office, bank and bar. From the hamlet several beautiful trails go into the woods that are famous for the 'porcini' mushrooms and the 'cinghiale' (wild boar).

On the ground floor you will find a small courtyard with access to a private garage, which can also be turned into additional living space. French doors give access to a wide dining/taverna with a large fire place, a kitchen and bathroom. This room has always been used for guests and children to play. The entire floor can easily be transformed into an independent apartment, with the addition of the 10 sq m cellar, currently accessible from the outside. The ceiling has original 'cotto' tiles and wooden beams.

Stairs lead to the first floor, which is also provided with another entrance from the other side of the thick ancient castle walls. From the hall-way you step up to the living /dining and open kitchen, with an authentic fire place. The kitchen is fully equipped. Next to it there is a bathroom with shower. Three large windows look out on the green Umbrian hills and woods. The ceiling has 'cotto' tiles and original wooden beams.

From the first floor a wide staircase leads to the second floor where you will find 3 large double bedrooms. All bedrooms face the country side. There are two bathrooms; one with tub and one with shower. On top of the second floor there is a large open attic (90 sq m) that is currently not used, but which is high enough to stand up; this can be transformed into a study or extra room.

The house has been renovated over the past 3 years and the old castle walls have been fortified. The roof is completely new and all services and installations are complaint with legislation.
