Mainbrayce Ltd is a company divided by shares, presently the business is owned by two business partners owning 51% and 49% each. The business is largely seasonal but does operate throughout the year. The current owners advise that to operate this business considerable experience in the marine industry is essential. Engineering experience and capability is also a pre-requisite and an experienced person is required to run the chandlery. It is very much a hands-on working business and as such is unsuitable purely as a financial investment.
Based in the north east corner of the inner harbour, the business incorporates a chandlery, fuel, gas and engineering workshop, and runs the water taxi under contract to the States of Alderney from Easter through to the end of September. There are also other contracts in place with pleasure/fishing vessels.
