This spacious architect designed two bedroom, two bathroom house was built in 1995 to the current owners’ design and specification. It is situated in 750 square metres of land overlooking the South West bays of Alonissos.

Facing south the house enjoys wonderful views of the neighbouring island of Skopelos (made famous by the film Mamma Mia) and, on most days, Evvia island can be seen in the distance. To the east the view includes more islands: the Two Brothers and Skantzoura.

The house is located on the very southern edge of Chora, the Old Village close to a road leading down to two beaches – both within walking distance (about 15 - 20 minutes). One beach is tiny, hard to find and secluded, the other is larger, with two excellent tavernas and safe swimming.

The house provides over 100 sq. metres of living space, outside kitchen and covered terraces, and in addition, a spacious top terrace provides an additional area for sun-bathing or enjoying evening drinks whilst taking in the magnificent sea and island view.

This is a very attractive family home and is to be sold fully furnished with traditional furniture made especially for the house.

The property has been built in traditional Greek style with an earthquake-proof reinforced concrete frame, timber and tiled roof, white-plastered brick walls and traditional wooden-shuttered windows. It has been exceptionally well maintained and equipped, so that one can live comfortably in the heat of summer, and also in cooler days in spring and autumn.

The bedrooms and shower rooms floors are surfaced with ceramic tiles throughout. The living room, kitchen floors, middle and lower terraces, are beautifully tiled with traditional Plaka (rectangular-cut stone tiles) There is solid Iroko wooden balustrade around the outside terraces.

The large (11.3 m. x 2.4 m) middle-floor terrace provides an excellent area for entertaining. Being part shaded one can be comfortable at any time of the day.

The house has the benefit of two beautifully appointed kitchens – one inside and one outside. They provide excellent preparation and cooking space for a keen cook.

Below the house, the large, natural garden of citrus and olive trees blends beautifully into the hillside.

Accommodation is on 3 levels and comprises:

East Terrace and Entrance Porch (7.5m X 2m) located on the ground floor/middle level. The wooden entrance door opens in to the Living Room .

Living/Dining room (4.3 x 3.9m), large enough to cope well with 4 adults inside on cooler days. There is a traditional Alonissos corner fireplace and the floor is surfaced in Plaka. The room is furnished with specially made pine furniture that includes a round dining table that can seat up to 6 people, Six dining chairs, a coffee table, bookcase, traditional style sofa and an armchair. French windows open out on to the terrace. A single step leads in to the internal kitchen area.

Kitchen Area (3.3m x 3m) The inside kitchen has an Italian ceramic sink surrounded by work surfaces laid with French blue tiles. Ample storage space is provided by a range of purpose-built, traditional kitchen cupboards. The cooker is all electric and there is a free standing Fridge Freezer.

The outside kitchen has four large granite work surfaces with ample storage for cooking and cleaning equipment underneath. There is a large English Belfast sink and space for a gas cooker. underneath.

Bedroom 2 (3.5m x 3.1m) The second bedroom (on the ground floor) is cool and large enough for two single beds, a fitted wardrobe, two bedside cabinets and a large storage chest. Just outside this bedroom is the downstairs cloakroom.

Cloakroom (2.00m x 1.9m) equipped with shower, W.C. and washbasin.

A marble staircase leads up from the ground floor to the 1st floor:

Large Master Bedroom (3.9m x 3.9m) with wonderful sea views, open wood beamed ceilings and ceramic tiled floor. The room is spacious, airy and is furnished with a King sized bed. The double wardrobe; bedside cabinets and large chest of drawers provide a lot of storage for clothes and linen. A built-in air conditioning unit provides essential cooling in the summer and heating in the winter.
French windows open on to an extensive, south-facing terrace (9.0m (max) x 5.6m) with wonderful views over Olive and Almond groves, Pine trees, the sea and outer islands.

    The en-suite shower room (1.9m x 1.9m + built in shower 1.0 x 0.85m) is spacious and well fitted.

The Lower Floor and Terrace is accessed by Plaka (stone) steps.
Here there are 2 Apothiki’s (store rooms) one has a plumbed in washing machine, sizeable workbench and storage area.

The second is ideal for storing garden equipment.

There is also a wood store beneath the outside steps.

The lower terrace has an outside shower.

The house is connected to mains electricity and water. There are 2 water storage tanks. One 16m3 for mains water and a 7m3 reserve water tank for rain water

The house stands astride two original building plots, giving an immediate sense of space. Moreover, the forest land below the property has been jointly purchased with neighbours so that no building can spoil this incredible sea view.

The large, easy to maintain garden is planted with citrus and olive trees. There are also Mediterranean oleanders, agaves, lavenders and herbs. A large Carob tree gives a sense of privacy to the East side of the house.

The concrete drive to the east of the property has space for two cars. An additional parking area, at the back of the house, on the North side, is protected by a low stone wall.

On the west side of the house is an area of garden, with road access, of approximately 300 square metres, which would be suitable for an extension, a swimming pool, or to build another house (planning permission, now lapsed, would be easily renewed). This area, which also faces the sea, and has the same stunning views as the house itself, has been maintained in its natural state and is tidy and easily managed.

In Summery this is a well maintained fully furnished and fitted property with mains services and telephone connected, a large garden, room to extend the living accommodation and add a swimming pool if desired. Beaches, Shops and Tavernas are all within walking distance
