Beautiful south west facing architect designed 3 bedroom neo-classical styled villa with amazing sea views peacefully located on the edge of the old village (Chora) on a 2,000m2 plot. Close to safe beaches, tavernas and shops.
The house was built as one building but designed so that it can easily be divided into two independent units. This allows one unit to be rented out to generate an income, and one to be lived in by the owner, or, all to be used by one large family.
The villa has been built for year round living with insulated roof and walls, central heating throughout and an open fireplace in both units. The villa is 120m2, plus a large basement area.
The entrance to the property is through a wooden gate that opens in to a very private and sheltered walled court yard area with mature plants, shrubs and trees. The garden extends around both sides of the house and down to lower levels.
A stone (Plaka) path leads to a front door in each section.
The main part of the house has two storeys and the stable door entrance opens in to the open plan kitchen and dining area.
The fully fitted kitchen is approximately 3.5 x by 4.5 metres and has a large dining table that can seat eight. Double windows overlooking the courtyard. The stable door which opens at the top to provide a through breeze on hot summer days is made from good quality hard wood.
There is a side door that gives access to a terrace with solid stone toped table. Around the terrace are numerous plants and shrubs including roses, oleanders and mimosa. Steps lead down to a large 80m2 storage room/workshop, the lower garden and the rest of the plot.
From the kitchen area three steps lead down to a living area with feature open fireplace. The furnishings are antique style with large settee and easy chairs. Double doors each side of the fireplace open onto a 4m x 2m terrace.
From kitchen area a metal spiral stairway leads to the upper floor. There is a small hall area with good sized storage. There are two double bedrooms with fully fitted en suite shower rooms in white.
Bedroom one, the master bedroom is approximately 3.5m x 2m with side windows and open wood beams in the ceiling. South facing balcony doors open onto good sized terrace with views across the sea to Evia and the southern tip of Skopelos. The en suite shower room with heated towel rail is large and well designed and equipped.
Bedroom two 3m x 3m has windows to the side and back of the house and an open beamed roof. The en suite shower room with heated towel rail is a small but very well designed.
Also from the upper hall, a side door leads up to a 20 square metres roof terrace with stunning views across the sea to Skopelos on the one side and up to Manola and mainland Greece on the other side.
The smaller second section of the house is 7.5 metres by 4.5 metres and makes a perfect self contained guest house or granny annex. It is accessed by its own private stable door, again from the court yard. The door opens onto a large open plan room with a sunken seating area and open Alonissos styled chestnut beamed roof.
To the right of the stable door is the shower room and toilet. To the left is a small kitchen area with built in cupboards units, fridge, cooker etc. There is a window which looks onto the garden. This area has ample room for a table and chairs but could also be used as an office.
A low wall divides the kitchen entrance area from the lower level seating area which is accessed by three steps. This lower area runs the length of the room and has a pull out bed settee which provides two single beds. Other furnishings include a very large antique style settee and tasteful fittings.
Three large sets of balcony doors open onto a 7.5m x 1.80m south facing terrace. This terrace offers both sun and shade. There is plenty of room both inside and outside this section of house .
The solid wood shutters are painted in a pastel aqua blue/green and the interiors are all white with pastel drapes and shades. All tiling is light.
Out side there are lovely shaded patio and terraced areas. The garden is well planted and maintained with room for a swimming pool if required. There is also a small area on the plot on which a second house up to 75m2 could be built should the new owner wish to.
The property sits at the top of a valley that runs down to the sea, the elevated location ensures that the views will never be spoilt.
The villa was built about 7 years ago and has been the permanent home of its architect owner. All rooms have oil fired central heating and there is a large solar panel to provide hot water. Fully insulated and built to a very high specification this property is ideal as a permanent, holiday or buy to rent property.
The old village with supermarkets, shops and tavernas can be walked to in just a couple of minutes. There is a regular bus service from the old village to the port and main village of Patitiri.
The nearest beaches are at Megalos Mourtias and Mikro Mourtias. Megalos Mourtias is a favourite among the inhabitants of the Old Village, as they can walk down to it using a signed footpath in about 15-20 minutes. It is also highly accessible by car and/or motorbike - approx 5 minutes.
The beach is covered with smooth white pebbles. In the sea you will find silky smooth sand. There is a gentle slope, the water gradually getting deeper. You can find shade under the beach umbrellas or under the olive trees that grow a few meters away from the sea…
There are 2 tavernas on the beach and a third on the road just a few metres from the beach. All sell fresh fish and traditionally Greek food.
Contrary to its busy ‘Big brother’ the beach of Mikros Mourtias is a quiet beach with no facilities. The pebble beach is relatively small; there is a big patch of fine sand in the sea. The beach is encircled with rocky cliffs, creating breathtaking scenery. At the back of the beach are old olive trees where you can find good shade.
On its right end there is an old abandoned building that was once used by people living in the Old Village, when they wanted to visit the island of Skopelos.
Being so quiet and relatively isolated, the beach is sometimes proffered by nudists. It is also very likely that when visiting you might be the only people there, so it really feels sometimes like it is your own private beach!!!
The water at both beaches is crystal clear with a beautiful silky blue colour. In order to get the most out of your visit in any of the beaches in Alonissos, it is a good idea to bring a mask and a snorkel, so that you can enjoy the underwater beauty and colour display. Even those that are not snorkel enthusiasts should be prepared to be dazzled by the beauty of the underwater scenery of Alonissos.
