The Hidden Cottage is a beautifully restored stone house with unbelievable views across the sea to Skopelos. A small cove with a sand and pebble beach can be reached in a five minute walk down a small pathway. There are many goat paths along the coastline to provide interesting walks and access to other beaches.
Stone floors, exposed beams and colourful furnishings provide the feel of a comfortable home.
Located on Alonissos’s secluded west coast in the sought after area known as Megali Amos, the cottage (Kalivi) stands peacefully on a 2000m2 plot amongst mature olive trees in its own olive grove which produces approximately 80 litres of virgin olive oil each season. Patitiri, with its tavernas and shops, is seven kilometres away.
The house is approximately 55 square metres, has mains electricity and has recently been refurnished and fitted with new electrical appliances. There is a 12,000 litre water tank (sterna) and ample parking space for several cars.
The cottage is rented out by an exclusive Greek Island tour company and produces an excellent rental income.
Accommodation comprises:
Living Room (5.55 x 4.45 narrowing to 3.30m) with open plan L shaped kitchen area. The floors are surfaced with terracotta tiles and there are massive chestnut wooden beamed ceilings visible throughout. The traditional styled kitchen has a marble sink with tiled splash back, base units with wooden doors, white display cupboards and display units. The rustic look is enhanced with a selection of saucepans and cooking utensils hanging on the wall.
Adjacent to the kitchen area is a table with 2 chairs.
There are 2 windows in-between the kitchen area and front door, one with views to the front, the second with views to the side. Taking advantage of this light area are two comfortable armchairs and a coffee table.
There are 2 more windows in the living room located to the right of the front door. In between the 2 windows there is a staircase leading up to the mezzanine gallery bedroom. Beneath the stairs is a large fridge freezer.
At the back of the living room is a door leading in to white and grey marble effect tiled shower room (2.8 X 1m). The room is furnished and fitted with white washbasin with mirror and glass shelves, shower and toilet. There is also a window and a water heater.
The mezzanine gallery bedroom measures approximately 5.5 x 3m. The beamed ceiling, polished pine floor and wooden banister gives that typical Greek rustic feel. The bedroom is furnished with a built-in double bed, with integral storage, and a white storage cupboard. There is a small window at each end of the mezzanine.
Outside the cottage is a curved veranda that extends around two sides. The veranda is partly covered to give shade on hot summer days and furnished with seating areas and a table and chairs. There are several pots and various plants. The veranda floor is paved in stone (plaka).
The attention to detail and finishing touches have to be seen to be believed. The thick walls with niches, wooden window lintels, stone floors, green terracotta roof tiles that blend in with the pine and olive trees all combine to create a unique atmosphere. This cottage has been rented out for many years and is very popular. The present owners reserves specific weeks for their own use. If a new owner decides to continue renting out, similar arrangements can be made.
In summary, a rare opportunity to own a charming cottage set on a large plot with magnificent views of the sea and pine clad hills. Only metres from the beach and sea and providing a good rental income if required. Priced to sell quickly, we recommend an early inspection.
