Uzumlu (meaning grape yard or place of grape) is located on a plateau which it shares with the neighbouring village of Yrncirkoy (meaning fig). It remains an unspoilt working village where its inhabitants depend on agriculture and traditional crafts for their income. The locals use the land to make their living and produce includes olive oil, tobacco, figs, wine, grape juice and vinegar. You will see fields of cotton, aniseed, wheat, barley and summer vegetables, and on the lower slopes apples, pomengranites, almonds and pears are grown.

Being 500 metres above sea level the summer night time temperatures are very pleasant and not as humid as down by the coast. It is very pretty in May as there are an abundance of wild flowers and in the winter there is a large variety of birds.
