The British Virgin Islands are a British overseas territory and form part of an island chain, together with neighbouring US Virgin Islands.
More than 40 Caribbean islands and islets make up The British Virgin Islands. They are famed for their sub-tropical vegitation, sandy beaches and coral reefs. 16 of the islands are inhabited and the largest of them, Tortola, is home to more than 3/4 of the population. Almost half of the islands' GDP is from financial and business services.
