Arranging your non-resident mortgage in Antigua & Barbuda

Antigua has been described as a tropical paradise and is located in the Leeward Islands of the Caribbean. It is one of the world's top holiday destinations having superb beaches, hotels, privately owned accommodation, excellent restaurants & nightlife, a vibrant culture and abundant visitor attractions. The Antigua sailing events are ranked top in the Caribbean and the World and cooling tradewinds ensure Antigua has perfect sailing weather.

Antigua welcomes foreign investment and generous incentives and an hospitable environment are provided to encourage such investment. The Antiguan government is keen to reassure investors that their investments will be secure and well protected.

It is worth noting that the famously laidback easy going lifestyle is a way of life on Anitigua and a part of everyday business. It is not just reserved for the tourist. The same slow pace of life is also evident in banking, conveyancing and property purchase. The golden rule to remember is 'nothing moves fast in the Caribbean'.

Proof of income is required in all cases. Mortgages are assessed on the basis of serviceability and the amount of your disposable income (after normal running expenditure).  Non-status loans are currently not available.
Interest rates are linked to US LIBOR. Interest rates can also be fixed for two, three, five and ten year periods and longer on request. Interest is accrued on the daily balance and charged quarterly for LIBOR linked loans. In certain instances an initial five year interest only option is also available, subject to conditions.
